I first met Steve at West Jr. H.S. after transferring from North Jr. H.S. to West in the 9th grade. It was the first day of football practice. We all sat in the bleachers and were introduced to Mike Yavorski. Steve was doing his best to scare me about the other guys he hung out with at West. He did a good job as I made a fool of myself by repeating some racial epithets he said. I remember the incident perfectly as his ability to trick me into saying a ridiculous comment was done with perfection. We remained acquaintences throughout high school but never reallly had a friendship. His academic achievements are enviable as he never struck me as guy who would go on to be so successful. The class of 70' will miss you. RIP Steve.
