Mr. Michael Carl Pickens, 70, was born on March 11, 1952, to the late Mabel Henderson of East St. Louis. Michael was later adopted by Mr. Hollis and Lallie Pickens.   With his loved ones at his side, Michael departed this earth on September 18, 2022.

Mike attended Alton High School and graduated in 1970. He then went on to attend Illinois State University.  Following college, he started his career at Olin and remained there for many years.   Mike was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. Although he had no specific hobbies, he enjoyed sitting outside, cooking, and watching “cable TV”.  He was an avid supporter of the Chicago Bears and loved the “Cubbies”.   Mike was a very intelligent and outspoken individual.  He could talk for hours about movies, cooking, or just life in general. Although he did not attend church regularly, he was a true believer of God.

Michel was preceded in death by his mother Mabel Henderson, brother Raymond Pickens, Uncle Hollis (Lallie) Pickens, and a granddaughter Amaya Pickens.

He leaves to cherish his mother Betty Nelson, daughters; Ausukela Pickens and Yaushameen Taylor, and son Raukshaun(Nakeisha) Pickens, his grandchildren; Damien, Amaya, Niani, Arissa, Kamari, Emily, Raukshaun, and Michael. Great-grandson Kenzo. A cousin, Harrison “Rocky” Henderson, best friends Dilbert Caldwell, and Benny Williams and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
