Gary Ray Camerer

It is with deep sadness and an unending love that we announce the loss of Gary Ray Camerer, 69 years old, of Alton Illinois.

Gary was born on July 28, 1952 to Harold and Alberta Camerer. He was a graduate of Alton High School Class of 1970. He was a devoted, loving dad, proud grandpa, brother, and an amazing friend. He owned J&G Camerer Construction until retirement and devoted all of his life to being a carpenter. He was an avid Alton historian who dedicated much of his time and energy to preserving our town's past, including the painting of the current Piasa Bird.

Gary will be greatly missed by his children J.B. (Jennifer) Camerer, Matt Liebheit, and Myndee (Spencer) Richardson. He is survived by his wife, Jamey Camerer; his grandchildren, Lexi Camerer, Brianna Camerer, Lylah Liebheit, and Dean Richardson; his siblings, Linda Cook, Cathy Carroll, Sandi Blair, Brian Camerer, and Diane Cransac and their respective families; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his children Mark and Mandi Camerer.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
