ROXANA, ILLINOIS - Jerry L. Spurgeon, 63, passed away at 4:51 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016, at his home.
He was born on August 30, 1952 in Alton, the son of Maurice and Lois (Creamer) Spurgeon.
Jerry married Alice Midkiff on April 7, 1995, in Edwardsville. She survives.
Jerry worked for Maintenance Unlimited and had recently retired in 2015.
He was a member of the Greater Alton Church of Christ. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed playing softball and volleyball. Most recently he had found a love for tennis. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of Roxana; seven siblings and their spouses, Virginia Spurgeon of Medford, Oregon, twin brother, Gary Spurgeon, Donna Besaw, Joy and Dale Emerick, Ann and Mike Baehler, Keith Spurgeon, Kevin and April Spurgeon; two sisters-in-law, Jenese Midkiff and Tracey Sparks; and two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Larry and Belinda Midkiff and John and Chris Midkiff.
He was preceded in death by his parents and Sister Gloria Spurgeon.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, from 4-6 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. at the Greater Alton Church of Christ in Rosewood Heights.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be given to his family for funeral expenses.
