Ronald C. Smith, 63, of Wood River, passed away at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at Integrity Healthcare of Wood River. 

He was born June 9, 1952, in Alton, the son of Marlene (Hale) Shake of Alton and the late Oliver C. Smith. He married the former Sherri Eudy on July 4, 1987, in Alton. They later divorced and she survives and now resides in Godfrey. Other survivors include his mother, Marlene, and her husband, Bill, of Alton; one daughter, Alexandra “Lexie” Anne Smith of Godfrey; one son, Clayton Parker Smith of Madison, Wis., and his fiancée, Brynne Coleman of Rolla, Mo.; his siblings, Venni Sue Smith of Alton, Dean and Elisabeth Shake of Alton, Gwen and George Staab of Athens, Ill., Julie Shake of California, Crystal and Rob Rall of Brandon, Miss., Jennifer and Greg Mouldon of Godfrey, Shannon Sharma of North Carolina, Courtney Auran of Colorado and Whitney Marquez of Texas; a special friend, Pam Goben; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

Ronald was formerly employed in building maintenance at Lewis and Clark Community College, Beverly Farm Foundation, and at multiple hotel and apartment complexes. He was an avid knife and gun collector. He loved sports and enjoyed watching boxing, NASCAR, the Oakland A’s and the L.A. Raiders. He was baptized and became a member of Upper Alton Baptist Church. 

In celebration of his life, memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Godfrey. Pastor Adrian Das and Pastor Brad Donoho will officiate.
