Comments:

After HS I went to SIU-Carbondale and got an BS in engineering with a minor in electronics. Nixon got rid of the draft 1 month before my last appeal was denied so I never went into the military. After 3 years at Western Military school from 1966-1968 I had no desire to march or shine anything ever again. After college I took a job with Olin Corp in East Alton and that lead to a sales rep job with them selling guns and ammo in Michigan. After two years they promoted me and moved me to Virginia where I had 5 states and 5 reps under me. When they wanted me to move to Texas I said no and they let me go. In 1988 I started selling real estate and still am. Married in 1988 and lived in Fredericksburg Va for 20 years. We had a house in Kitty Hawk and moved into it full time in 2001, it is 150 feet from the Atlantic ocean (great views). I am the sales manager/president at the real estate office that has 550 rental homes that we rent weekly in the summer to vacationers. My house is one of them now and we built a new house in 2009 that is 250 feet from the ocean (safer with good views). The Outer Banks is where the Wright Bros first flew and being a private pilot I love the connection to the area.

Sept 2018 and I am still working at selling real estate here on the Outer Banks of NC in Kitty Hawk, but after 31 years in real estate and 14 years with Olin before that I am about done with working. My problem is after working for 44 years since college I don't know what else to do or how to do it. I live here 300 yds from the ocean but I am not a beach person, I am here because my wife Jan is.

Visiting close to my home in Kitty Hawk this is Ocracoke Island - Blackbeard was well known here. That is the Ocracoke lighthouse behind me. Really cool little island to visit.

As I think about retiring, wondering what I would do all day long, Jan & I have started to explore places we have never been before. So far this year we went to Bar Harbor Maine and Acadia National Park. I was thinking of interviewing for a park ranger job, but the hats are too small - or my head is too big.

Hey Scott, a fellow Realtor I see. We never retire because we have so much fun doing real estate -- yea right. 27 years for me and that is after the 13 years I was with Olin.

The view from the house that is now our rental house but we lived here from 2001 to 2009. Nice views but scary during those pesky hurricanes.
