Earl Matlock, 57, is survived by his wife, Sheila Scarborough Matlock. He is survived by children: E W Matlock, Adrian Cantrel Matlock, Sandra D Matlock, and Kristen D Matlock. Also two brothers survive him, Benjamin and Brenda Matlock of Lake Charles, LA and Jimmy Matlock, Fresno, TX
Earl worked with my inner school children who had problems. It was his job as a facilitator with the PROUD program, which works with Durham teens referred by the courts and the school system, and as a coordinator of Durham Inner-city Gardeners (DIG), which puts teens to work growing and selling crops.
The preceeding information was given by his employer, Verlena Huff (1970 AHS graduate), to Tom Fay.
I attended Garfield school and Earl was a classmate. He was one of the kindest in our class. So courteous and thoughtful. I always enjoyed his company...as did we all. I was sorry to learn of his passing at such a young age. I can only imagine how much his missed by his family.
