Jeffrey Mark Hunter, 60, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at his home in Alton, IL.

 He was born on August 29, 1952 in Quincy, IL, the son of John and Norma (Jeffries) Hunter.

He was a musician in numerous bands, and the owner of production studios MidiLand and MidiWorld. He was an avid collector of and a self-taught expert on exotic snakes, tobacco pipes, and walking sticks.

He was a well-known character in Alton, recognized for his kindness, his trusting spirit, and his unique sense of personal style. He always treated everyone as an equal.

The Hunters are a close-knit family, and his absence will be forever felt among them. His memory will live on for many years.

He is survived by his 85-year-old mother, Norma Hunter of Alton, IL; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean Marie and Zdzichu “Zig” Kuczwara of Alton, IL; his brother John “Yohanan” Hunter of Tecumseh, MO; and his nephew and nephew’s fiancee, Cris Bennette Hunter and Cherise Stringham of Seattle, WA.

He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Hunter, in 2006.

He lived the last years of his life with his longtime companion, Althea Hanebutt.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A small gathering of family and Jeff’s close friends will be held at his mother’s residence on Friday, November 29, 2012 between 4 and 6 PM.

Memorials may be made to the Five As Animal Shelter.
