"David Glenn Hamilton Sr., 53, died at home Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005.
"He was the eighth child of Lovie D. and Nathaniel Hamilton.
"He went to the public school system and Alton Senior High School, graduating and going on to college for two years. He worked at the Kroger Food Store, and then his dad got him a job at the American Smelting Co. He later went to work at Olin Corp. in the storeroom, and he was a good shop steward. Later on, he went to work at the Labor Union Hall 218 until he retired.
"He married Cynthia on Nov. 22, 1985, and she helped him raise his three children, David Jr., La'Neah and Brandon Hamilton. He leaves a legacy that he was a good father to these children.
"He confessed his hope in God in the year of 1999, under the leadership of Gregory Harrison. He was the Sunday school teacher of the adults and the greatest hospitality leader in the women's department. He was a true worshipper of God.
"He leaves to mourn his passing but cherish his memories hi wife; four sons, David (Lagretta) Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, Deshon Womack and Davell Womack; two daughters, La'Neah Hamilton and Keena Womack; nine grandsons; two granddaughters; two sisters and their husbands, Addie and Jessie Ewing and Jessie and Robert Watkins; four brothers, Nathaniel Jr., Richard, Kenise and Kevin Hamilton, all of Alton; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; three brothers-in-law; and four sisters-in-law.
"He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Davichion Hamilton and David Demarco Goree; five sisters, Lula Brown, Kay McGee, Debra, Denise and Valerie Hamilton; one brother, Robert Hamilton; and his grandparents, Hosie and Addie Williams and Cherrie Robinson."
