RENE' GROSS
GODFREY — Rene' Ruth Gross, 64, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Born March 31, 1952, in Alton, she was the daughter of Charles Richard Gross Jr. and Ruth LaVerne (Dykeman) Gross.
Rene' was disabled her entire life and was featured as a young child on an Easter Seals poster. Despite her disability she graduated from Alton High School in 1970, and attended classes at Lewis & Clark Community College. She worked for Specialized Services in Alton for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alton.
Rene' is survived by a sister, Charlene Grills (Arlie) of Alton, two brothers, Charles Richard Gross III (Kathy) of East Alton and John Lee Gross of Houston, Texas, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the First Christian Church. Jim Johnston will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

I knew Rene' from East Junior High and on. She was a good friend to my mother as they both resided in the same nursing home.
