Nancy Snyder
Nancy Marie Snyder, 57, passed away at 8:38 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. [She had an infection that went to her blood.]*
Born in Alton on June 30, 1952, she was the daughter of Frank and Rose (Daniels) Greenwell.
Surviving are five sons and two daughters-in-law, Daniel and Tina Smiley of Sharpsburg, Ga., John (his girlfriend, Heather Wierciak) Smiley of Caseyville, Brad and Sara Snyder of Jerseyville, Jason and Ryan Snyder, both of Bunker Hill; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Michelle and Mike Haynes of Cottage Hills, Kelly and Jim Thompson of Benld, Kristi and Justin Parmley of Alton, Melissa (her boyfriend, Geoff Thompson) Snyder of Livingston, Sarah Snyder of Bunker Hill; 20 grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Greenwell of Godfrey and Bill Greenwell of Brighton; and five sisters, Carol Geisen of Godfrey, Jean Greenwell and Margie Ridder, both of Alton, Patty Needler of Roxana and Donna Sharez of Wood River.
Preceding her in death were a brother, Bob Greenwell, and a sister, Mary Engle.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto. Father Tom Liebler will be celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to the family for her children's benefit.
*During the visitation, the cause of death was relayed by the family to Dennis Taylor, class of 1969. He is the husband of our classmate, Sara Wallace (Taylor).
