I am so sad and shocked to hear of John's passing.  He and I walked to school together when we were at East Junior. A few months ago John called me and asked if I could help him locate a relative who lived in the Brighton area.  We talked and laughed about many of the great memories that we shared from those days.  I met John and Mike Gray and Steve Ogden at Tony's a few years ago for a very enjoyable evening. I am already missing him and want to send my heartfelt sympathy to his family.

I was also shocked and saddened when I heard of John’s passing. I remember sitting on the bleachers at East Junior and talking about cars. His love of cars I’m sure propelled him into his career at Chevrolet. John loved golf as well as baseball. He excelled at both of these sports. John will be greatly missed. I would like to express my deepest sympathies to his family.

I didn't know John until high school. He was such a classy and friendly guy. A nice dresser and clean, healthy and charming presence. I can't remember a time where John was down or in a bad mood. He had a magnetic personality and attracted others to him. I regret not maintaining a relationship with him after our high school days ended. I will always remember his smile and exceptionial personality. I'll miss you John....rest in peace my brother....

Like those posts before me, I too am shocked and saddened to learn of John's passing.  My memory of John is from East Jr. where we were both hall patrols, He was on the landing on the stairwell and I was at the top.  I remember after a movie we had in maybe biology of a cow giving birth.  He was doing his best to imitate the noises and actions the cow was making. He had me in stitches laughing.  I just remember he was truly a great guy.  My sincerest sympathies go out to his family.

I am so sad to hear about John's passing. I knew John from the third grade on. We were in Sunday School together. His Grand Mother Leona Wood was our Sunday School teacher. John lived most of his school life with his grand parents, Orri and Leona Wood. His grand parents live close to us off of Milton road and I would go over and visit. John lost his baby sister in a accident when we were in junior high and I was one of the pallbearers. I will never forget that. After high school, he worked in a coop program with GM and I was going to SIU. He got me a job working at Fisher Body on the assembly line before it change to GMAC and I had to go to the service. We lost touch later on in life but I sure have a lot of good memories.

John was one of my best friends and I already miss him. We always kept in touch with each other every month and played golf at least twice a year for over 50+ years. He loved his family and was always sending me videos of those grand kids. John had a great wit and never met anyone he didn't know. He was a special person very caring and kind. Everybody needs a John Cox in their life.

John sat behind in most of my classes at East Junior.  He used to say "Don't worry, Campbell, I've got your back". That was just so wonderful.

John and I were in fifth and sixth grades together at Garfield School. He was a genuinely nice guy who was liked by everyone. In fifth grade we had the same buzz cuts and our class pictures looked a lot alike.

I too first met John at East Junior and we were good friends through our college years.  He was one of the smartest guys I knew.  He read All Quiet on the Western Front in 7th grade.  It was great to see him at our last class reunion where we relived the good old days.  My condolences to his family.  May John rest in peace.
