Barbara and I have been married since 1972. I have been with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company since 1981. Currently AVP of Special Investigations providing fire, arson, theft, fraud and specialized investigations in 12 States with a staff of 19. Retired December 19, 2014 after 33 years of service.

Prior to joining GMRC staff I spent time on the Alton Fire Department, Wood River Police Department and Chief of Police in Brighton, IL.

I served as President of the International Association of Arson Investigators 1996-1997 and Executive Director 2000 - 2006.

In 1996 met with President Clinton and FEMA Director James Lee Witt on the Church Arson fires occurring throughout the United States.

In 2002 was selected to serve on an international panel of experts in Saudi Arabia to make recommendations regarding the holy city during the hajj where 2.5 million pilgrims gather each year. Issues addressed included fire safety, fire spread, security and arson as a possible terrorist weapon.

Over the years I have been a speaker on arson and fire investigation topics in Australia, Israel, Sweden, Canada, Venezuela, Great Britain, New Zealand and throughout the U. S. I got to see a lot of wonderful sites and many times Barb got to go with me.
