I only found a very small obituary for Terry Carpenter in the Telegraph archives. The obituary says: Terrell Carpenter "AURORA, Colo. - Terrell "Terry" Carpenter died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998. Services were Tuesday, Jan. 27, Horan & McConaty F.C.,Denver. Surviving: Kendra, Hayley, and Tyler. Memorial: Carpenter Fund, Colorado Nat'l Bank, 941 S. Havana, Aurora." There was also an obituary for Regan Carpenter of Sun Lakes, Ariz. in Sept. 2003, that says Regan was a professor of elementary ed and English at SIUE and retired in 1994 and moved to Ariz in 1996. It says three of his grandchildren are Kendra[,] Hayley and Tyler Carpenter of Denver and that he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Carpenter.

Terry lived next door to me in our preteen years and we traveled the summer working for my father on construction jobs in Indiana, Louisiana, Texas, Pennsylvania, North Dakota during our summer college years.  We had alot of funny stories.  Terry was probably one of the funniest guys I knew as a kid.  One summer in Pennsylvania he was on the crapper and yelled out that he needed toilet paper.  We had none.  So we through in some handi wipes and started laughing our asses off.  If you remember the commercial for handi wipes it said, "a thousand different ways to use handi wipes".  Terry immediately said after completing his wiping, "now there is one thousand and one ways".  Which to this day in that setting has to be a classic line I will never forget.

Terry came to work with me in Colorado in the early eighties.  We lost touch with each other in the early nineties.  I would attempt to contact him and he would avoid me.  I was very sorry to here he died and felt a little guilt not being there to walk him through his problem.

I meet Terry a a sophmore football player at Alton High. Terry was a natural leader...He was our Quaterback and friend.. I spent many games and practices along side Terry, and he was always good at morale and lifting up the team. I consider Terry a close friend and am sorry that he is no longer with us.
