Mary Jane Smith, 57, passed away at 3 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at her residence, with her family by her side.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1952, in Jacksonville, Ill., to Dorsey and Frances (Howland) Burnett.
Mary married Dennis Smith on Aug. 28, 1987, at the Overland Unity Church. He survives.
Mary was employed at Emerson Electric and she was a Girl Scout troup leader. Her true joy was spending time with her family and her dog, Sweetie, and her cat, Cheyenne.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Alton; one daughter, Sabrina Lynn Williams of Jerseyville; one son, Jason Andrew Smith of Overland, Mo.; three sisters and their spouses, Sharon and David Hopkins of Springhill, Fla., Jerri and Christopher Farmer of Godfrey and Doris and Bill Merideth of Alton; and one brother, Kenneth Burnett.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Michael; and her beloved dog, Coty.
Visitations will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at the Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where Curt Mase will officiate at funeral services at 1 p.m. Friday, May 14.
Memorials may be made to Beverly Farms Foundation.
