Diane Allton
Alton - Diane Klyne Allton, 71, died September 17, 2023, at University Care Center in Edwardsville, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Alton on July 27, 1952, she was the daughter of Anne Elizabeth (Johnson) Allton.
In 1970, she graduated from Alton Senior High, where she was a member of the Jammin' Junior Girls. She earned a bachelor's degree from Monmouth College in Monmouth, IL and a master's degree from The University of Delaware.
For many years Diane worked in high finance in New York City.
She enjoyed art, music, reading, jewelry, photography, collecting and nature.
In addition to her mother, she was predeceased by a brother Richard H. Allton and a special aunt and uncle, Robert and Mina Johnson. She was also a descendant of Martin Pruitt and Harry Rule II who fought in the Revolutionary War.
Family members include an Aunt Helen Rice, a sister Kathleen (Allton) Huffman and cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no services.

Diane and I reconnected when she moved to New York. I was raising my family in Jersey, and she would come and stay the weekend. I lived the summer of 1999 with her in Montclair, NJ, as my condo wasn't ready. We had such fun, gallavanting around the county, having lunch out at the Shoebox or Pal's.
