Hey Diana,

I know you posted in the past that if anyone who had previously paid for everything last year would still be all paid up for the rescheduled one. Just double checking. Sorry to bother you.

Classmates - if you have already paid for the reunion and/or mixer, you have paid in full. No further funds are due. Just remember that the cash bar at each event is on you.

Again, no payments will be accepted at the door.

Deadline to register for the reunion is June 1st.

Check the Home Page of this website for where to send payment

If you are attending the Underground Railroad tour, you might want to do some research before the tour.  The guide is a world of knowledge and will ask you if you have any questions.  He knows far more than he has time to share, so he will try to gear his tour to the points that interest you.

It seems like our loss of classmates is accelerating as we get closer to the reunion.  Looking forward to seeing every one.  Martha Drohobyczer (Lewis).

I walked to Horace Mann school and would pass a house that I was told was part of the Underground Railroad.  I always wondered how did a train get under that house and how it was connected to other underground stations.  I took this tour about 4 years ago with my daughter her husband and  my grandson when he was about 8 years old.  Very good and would highly recommend it. Oh, Diana, I liked how you wrote about mask and no one will be policing it.  Very diplomatic and well written.  Thank you for being neutral, diplomatic and following CDC language guidelines. This is why you are chair of this reunion.  Just my opinion. Martha

I will work 7:30-8:30 at the mixer!

Classmates, it has been 51 years...and our reunion is 5 weeks and one day away...finally. Over the last few days, it has come to my attention that some would like us to require attendees show proof of vaccination and/or require masks. This will not happen. This will also not be debated.

Some of our attendees cannot be vaccinated, others have chosen to not be vaccinated. This is a PERSONAL choice.

We want everyone possible to come to the mixer and reunion - everyone, but if you are not comfortable, a request for a refund must be received by August 1st..

To request a refund, mail a stamped self-address envelope to Barry Wittels, 2302 East Poinsettia Dr, Phoenix, AZ 85028

Thank you for understanding. Feel free to post comments or not, like, love, care or anger emojis, but no justification will be given for this decision or debate made. We are all old enough, and hopefully mature enough, to know this is a political hot button.

Again, it is your choice to be vaccinated and protected, or wear a mask. It is also your choice to attend or not attend. I will not be the one to talk you into either.

As always, I am happy to discuss any concerns you might have by telephone, text or email. BUT...I will not debate, justify or waiver. My contact information is Diana@DianaHalstead.com or 904-487-8485.

NOTE: This does not change that attendees MUST be vaccinated for the Underground Railroad Tour.

~Diana

I have decided to join in the reunion, mixer and Underground. Eagerly awaiting to test my memory recall significantly. I made reservations on SWA to arrive in St Louis AP Friday morning at 10:20AM Departing Sunday at 4:05PM.  Anyone arriving/departing about the same time? BW Parkway hotel on the beltway?

This is Mrs. Harlan's 3rd Grade Boys from Gilson Brown School. I can identify most classmates, but not all. Back row right to left: David Grady, Lee Elliott, Earl Matlock, David Patterson, Not Sure, Scott Adams, Robert Fay, Not Sure. Middle row right to left: Kim Randolph, Greg Riccardi, Eddy Phillips, Jeff Maher, Steve Holladay, Bruce Gray. Front Row right to left: Bobby Compton, Charlie Kozicky, Rex Haggard, Kenny Hale, Kenny Miller. Kevin McKee was in the class but not pictured. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE TWO "NOT SURE" BOYS? Also, does anyone have the girl's 3rd grade class pic? I have the names, but no picture.

PS: Diana Maul: Your Mom taught our class French in 3rd & 4th Grade!!!

Steve,  I'm so impressed with your memory of names  I think I was in that class but no pics  And, I too, remember Mrs. Maul and still can remember some French   Looking forward to seeing everyone

Steve, you do have an amazing memory or some really good notes!

I have never seen this picture and honestly did not know it existed.

In the back row between Scott Adams and David Patterson might be Mike McCulley. I know he was at North Junior with us so he may have been at Gilson Brown as well.

Also in the back row, I think the person on the far left is Robert Fay and the one I am not sure about is the next one (in the dark shirt) before you get to Scott.

I hope Scott weighs in and I hope you can bring the picture to the reunion to settle this!

Best to you,

Ed Phillips

Okay so I'm pretty sure the guy between David Patterson and Scott is Kevin McKee and the guy next to Scott and behind you, Steve is Bobby Frerichs. I'm probably not spelling his name right but that's my input. Where are the girls. Steve if you have access to the girls please post it. Thanks for the memories.

08/10/21 08:05 PM #122

Diana M Maul (Halstead)

Actually, I think the young man between Scott and David is Jeff Bopp. He looked exactly the same in grade school as he did in his graduating photo. Jeff was always shorter, where Kevin was always very tall, even younger he was tall. What do you all think? :)  Maybe someone wnats to post the photo on FB so more classmates can chime in. Many are not even registerd on this website.

Steve,

I see maybe three faces that I recognize:  Tim Keasler, Marty Medhurst, Randy Bailey is a question mark.  I have fond memories of competing against, and later becoming teammates of all three at AHS.  Hard to believe we were ever that young.

In Steve's picture of 3rd grade boys at Gilson, we think it is Kevin next to Scott. They were probably about the same height & Kev said he wore glasses then. Looks like they're sitting on a window ledge, perhaps. Amazing you got so many, Steve.

Aloha AHS Class of '70!

Alas, wife Ann (Wuellner) and I have decided to pull the plug on coming back to Alton to see you and local family. Where we live on Kauai and Hawaii generally, there has been a significant spike in reported cases. In July, the state’s average seven-day COVID-19 infection count was in the 60s. This month, it’s in the 500s. We really were looking forward to seeing you, but will shoot for another reunion when things settle down. Meanwhile, let us know if you mak it out here to the Garden Island.

I was in that 3rd grade class at Gilson Brown and sure wish I had a girls photo. I think our teacher was Miss Harlan, not Mrs, and she got married later. She then taught 4th grade so many of us were in her class twice. Third grade was the first year the school opened.

Caol Luly...

Yes, we had Miss Harlan 2 years.  I certainly don't remember a girls pic, but there must be one.  I may have to search my cedar chest...  I'm so impressed with Steve Holliday's memory of names.  Those names brought back a lot of memories.
